I managed to get 4.5 hr of luminance during Astrofest in between the power black-outs and a recalcitrant EQMOD fault. Didnt get as much colour data as I wanted with the QHY8 but there you go. Thought the power faults had blown the qhy8 but it appeared that it was only able to corrupt the drivers during a download - thanks for the tip Paul (1Ponders) as it saved my sanity
10"SCT with f6.3FR and QSI and QHY8 cameras 10 min integrations.
Love the detail the QSI583 can get.
Comments welcome.

Very nice Allan,
So what camera are you using exactly - I'm a little confused???

QSI for luminance and QHY8 for colour, combined in Registar.

OK,
I'll bite further though - why? (Is the QHY8 OSC or using filters?)

Sorry - Ive been to cryptic.
QSI for Luminance
QHY8 OSC for colour
Easy way to get LRGB
Just fantastic Allan. Congratulations on that one!
Wow - its sure shaped up to be a juicy 253 season - the quality of everyone's work has really gone up a few notches.

Ta Allan,
Certainly superior to my efforts - see the monthly challenge (hint, hint!). The colour variation across the galaxy in your image is surperb.

Well the colours are a bit iffy but mate the res is pretty good and those streamers are pretty clear in your version too, nice work...I think a slightly wider field is necessary to make them more obvious to the eye...Fred will be jealous :P

Nice work Allan. Despite all the challenges it must feel good to emerge with an image like that.

A very nice image Allan. Nice round stars and a big large Sculptor with plenty of detail.

:eyepop: So that's what you were trying to do! Wow Allan, it keeps making me turn my head on the side. That is a great shot. I keep waiting to see a bit more brightness between the clouds but the shot just hangs there. Love it. I'd love to see a higher res.
I'm glad to help Allan, especially seeing the results. Cheers

Neat little combo the two cameras, does a nice job, you could give a little more on the exposure ie lift it a stop or so, at least for the galaxy, you may have to redo the background if it goes a bit noisy, but a clever bit of layering will fix that.
I'm impressed, it may be the path I head down, except I may get the qhy9 it's a lot cheaper, same chip, don't know how much difference there is between them though.

Can't fault the sharpness here Allan. Nice work, maybe just some brightening of the image via curves and you have a cracker of a shot.
