Hi guys,
My son is 20 months old, and I ordered a set of glow in the dark planets and stars to put on his wall.
He can now identify everything on the wall, planets and constellations and I have thought that it might be nice to hang accurate (in looks if not scale) models of the planets from his ceiling instead of the rather cheap stick on's on his wall.
I have searched high and low and can't find a thing, I have found some styrene spheres that would be ideal for the application, but although I can build pretty much anything mechanical, my arts & craft skills are severely lacking, I fear my son would do a better job of illustrating them.
Does anyone know where I can find what I'm looking for?
Regards,
Jim

n.b. If anyone has any recommendations for projecting stars on to the ceiling, That would be welcome too.

Hi Jim,
I have seen a motorised mobile of the solar system that hangs from the ceiling at Australian Geographic stores.

Sounds like it may be like what you seek.

BTW: do you have space for travelling IIS members to camp at your dark site?

Those aren't bad guys, I'll definitely keep them in mind.
I'm looking for just a smidge bigger in scale.

I have absolutely zero camping area where we live, my wife is the Manager of a resort up here that doesn't actually provide those facilities.
However, should anyone decide they want to venture this way then by all means get in contact and we can arrange a room at a rather discounted rate.
Alternatively, if anyone wants a campsite (in the park for example), I can arrange that so it's all ready and waiting for you.
I spend the day looking after my son, so just ask. It won't be an effort.

I might get one my self.
i wonder if it rotates at Sidereal rate

Jim,
Thanks for the offer, I'll keep in mind
