View Full Version here: : Kids and scopes and planets.
Townsville Astronomy Group were out at one of the local schools in town last night. The kids loved it - lots of planets kept them excited. :)
They enjoyed the Moon and a few other objects able to be seen in town, but the planets were the winners for the night.
Kids were given coloured whirly things that glowed in the dark .... all looked really good.
We have been invited back next month. :help: :D Nah, the kids were great. ;)
Ah, the giant binoculars were a hit too.

Good one, Liz,.
It has been a special month this one, with all eight planets being visible within a few short hours from sunset!
Best bit about dealing with kids (of all ages) is the quality of their questions. Stuff that we take for granted, and/or have quite developed ideas on, need to be simplified in their explanation, or, just fudge it,.
I love it.

I know what you mean Liz. I've only just come home from and evening with two classes (grades 2/3 and 3/4 ). It was a fun night
Got a tricky one from a ~ 8yr old re orbit of Earth and Venus, just threw me for a sec ... well, bit longer than a sec really. :help:
Absolutely fun Paul, usually pretty relaxed and stress free. They have a peek, say 'wow', then run away!!

You're going to have to get my phone # so that when I'm not there at a meet, if you get thrown a curly one you've got it to ask me for the answers!!!:):):P
 sounds a good idea.
We will need you at JCU Tues 7th Sep, for the Astronomy students!! :help:
