Hello all

While I am optimistic that imaging will resume here in Omaha very soon, I have went ahead and reprocessed my 21 hours of data accumulated on this lovely galaxy.

http://www.martinpughastrophotography.id.a u/images/NGC1365New.jpg

LRGB, 12.5" RCOS and exposure were 720:210:210:210 on PME, AO-L guided.

thanks for looking

Some masterful processing martin, silky smooth, and fine detail in the galaxy, incredibly flat background too

As I pick my jaw up from the desk top.:jawdrop:
Sooo many hours invested but what a finale.

Have to be the very best I've seen on this galaxy and a definite NASA picie of the day.

Thanks again.

Yes, I know Fred, and I really prefer hi-res to low-res, but the FSQ/16803 combo can really do wonders on some of the larger vistas to be had.

thanks for commenting.

Martin,

I'm spellbound by this image. Excellent reprocess.

That edge-on galaxy at top left is excellent! Also, I don't know if it's just me, but, if I look at my screen at a certain orientation, I notice a blur towards the left of the bright star at the extreme right of frame. It's not an artifact of my screen, either, as I changed the size of my browser window and moved it across the screen -- the blur remains!

Clear skies.

Thank you very much everyone - yes, an APOD, and I sent it the same time as I posted it to IIS, so NASA posted it almost immediately.

H - you have a very sharp eye, and I did not notice that until I also looked at the image at an angle.

I can now confirm that is PGC 74728, a mag 18.5 galaxy, and the one below it (almost a pinpoint) is PGC 643572, mag 18.7. I stretched that a bit more, JPG attached.

well spotted.

cheers

Very nice Martin. I am sure I can see faint blue stars just in front of the central bar. They look like strings of blue stars. An excellent image with lots to see that is really nice.
