G'Day, Darrin here.:)

Since this is my first post, I hope it finds you all well.

Would be interested to here from any LXD55/75 users. I know it's getting a bit old now but for its price, it seems a good stepping stone until your skills are sharpened to move to something more stable and better engineered.

Cheers,
Darrin...

Hi Darrin

I had a LXD-75 mount. Its a good learner mount. If you are looking at visual astronomy (pardon the pun) its a great workhorse (if noisy). For astrophotography, you will want to trade up after a while - I did after about a year.

Now the scope itself - they can be great. I have a schmidt-newtonian 8 inch. Its very fast and presents a wide field of view so its very good for learning the ropes.

The only reason I moved on from the scope was that my new camera is too heavy for the focuser.

Good luck with it

Pete

Pete,

Thanks for your reply.

How do you find the EQ6 Pro? Nearly every one here has one and it seems to be a logical step from here for the price. Mechanically and software are good? I have grown to like the Autostar and have heard the EQ6 software is not as good as the Meade software but mechanically the EQ6 is much better.

Would love to hear from anyone about the EQ6 as a recommendation as a step up from here or any "watch outs".

Cheers,
Darrin...
