Hi Leon,
Most of the time you can simply press the PRT SC (Print Screen) button. This will take a snapshot of the screen which you can paste into paint or image editing etc and play with.
If you have vista, there is a app called the "snipping tool" built in (in the start - programs - accessories menu) which allows you to draw a box around the area you want to capture and copy.
Also, if you only want the window you are working in and not the whole screen, you can press ALT and PRT SC to only capture the window that has focus of your mouse.
If on a laptop, sometimes the PRT SC button is in a different colour on the insert key (for example) and you need to press the FN key (same colour) as well to activate the capture.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Chris

Leon,
If you wish to capture the entire screen, simply press the Print Screen key on your keyboard. If you wish to contain the capture to just window (perhaps an application you're working in) use Alt+Print Screen. This copies the contents of the screen/window to a buffer. You then open up a new document (Photoshop/Word, etc.,) and then right-click->Paste, or use the Edit->Paste menu options.

Hi Leon,
If you have any problems download a small program called Lightscreen
from: http://lightscreen.sourceforge.net/
This allows you to grab full screens, part screens, selected areas of a screen etc.
It works and it's free!
Cheers
