Hi all,

Here's an image of Jupiter from this morning, taken from just outside our motel room where Leisa & I are staying in Exmouth WA. The seeing was pretty good for this run. I'll be here with the scope until the end of September, using my laptop for imaging and processing...

cheers, Bird

The best I have seen, just love the string of delicate brown beads in the lower part.

:eyepop: One of, if not the best you've posted to date. This is not far from looking at an HST or flyby shot. Quite amazing really.:thumbsup::thumbsup: Just googled Exmouth. It's right on the coast. Isn't the ocean proximity a problem for seeing. I thought inland was better for astro? Obviously not?

Ah so the hunch pays off. Will give you a call and discuss further.

Goodness me. I can't wait to see what happens when it all falls into place.
What made you think Exmouth was going to be good?

Exmouth is normally dry as a bone. The wind there is usually an easterly, except in the afternoons, especially at this time of year. That's why the skies are so good there.

You should see them out Meeka' or Wiluna way. Get away from the town and the mine (at Wiluna) and they're even better:)

Desert skies...mind you at this time of year it gets pretty damn cold!!!!:)

Thanks guys, now we're in the grip of strong winds here for the next couple of days by the forecast, but then looking good for the weekend...

cheers, Bird

David,

Anthony and I had thoughts that with the laminair flow off the ocean and the height just above the jet stream line it ought to have good seeing on most nights. Wind excepted of course.
