Great shots.
I assume you have the 300mmED mounted in front of the PDF via a custom 67 lens mount adapter? I'm looking at making one of these 67-PDF adapters to use with my Proline11k, PDF and a couple of 67 lenses (an SMC 300mm non ED and an SMC 200mm). I currently use a Robofocus belt drive - but much prefer the PDF option.

thanks

Yes. that's right

here's what I built:

details here for the PDF adaptor

http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/mark_1_widefield_system_page.htm

before that I built this

http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/mounting_system_cla_page.htm

and before that I did this (starting in 2004)

http://www.narrowbandimaging.com/pentax_6x7_lens_adaptor_page.htm

at the time everyone else was struggling with 35mm lenses either hand focusing or using a belt drive and Robofocus. But I just wanted to put a focuser like my DF2 in series with a filter wheel and camera and focus at infinity. The Pentax 6x7 lenses did that for me with ~87mm of back focus

that gave me interchangeability in the dark.

the rest is history
here's a gallery of them:

Thanks for the info & link Richard,
I've owned two DF2s and now two PDFs - very versatile units. I'm thinking that I'll just machine a 67 extension tube or similar and mate it to a PDF camera pocket plate.

I currently use a 67-nikon adapter, connected via an FLI nikon mount mated to a cfw5-7 (see pic). I milled up a double sided dovetail rail to carry the camera and mounting rings - very rigid. But yes, the belt drive is not as good as the PDF config you are using. Ultiimately I'll likely upgrade the PL11k to a 16k chip.

that's a sturdy looking arrangement you have there

one thing to keep in mind with your plan to upgrade to a full-frame KAF16803 is that there is no electronic shutter on the KAF series.

You can use the electronic shutter to your advantage for shooting flats by opening the mechanical shutter and using the electronic shutter for shooting very short sky flats if needed.

For broadband LRGB type flats, this works very well... You can take a 0.01 second long exposure and not have shutter artifacts.

It isn't so necessary for camera lenses but if you wind up using it on a big open truss type cassegrain, it can be very helpful. I do that with a home-built 18" f/12.6 classical cass I built a few years back. I take my entire set of flats in less than 5 minutes
