For those of you who are not aware, NORAD (part of the US Military) tracks Santa via their global tracking system.

http://www.northpole.com/NoradSanta.asp

This is the same system that was/is supposed to track ICBM attacks on the US...by tracking Santa, the can insure that he is not mistakenly brought down by the US Air Defence Systems...

This is an annual event and is used in many news reports on Christmas Eve...my kids have been checking all day to see his if he has left the North Pole yet...

Merry Christmas All!

If memory serves, Norad will start "tracking" at around 4:00 AM EST (US time) which should be 8:00 PM Sydney time...that should be his approximate take off time in order to make it around the world in time...

Last year they had a "picture" of Santa flying over the Sydney Harbour bridge...
