HI Folks

I recently purchased a SS2K,I have installed it and it MT2 motors on GP mount all testing has gone smoothly and everything works very well.

My next challange is to connect lappy to SS2K controller,I have a proper
Keyspan serial port adaptor,I got from Gary (great service Gary:))
So I can connect lappy to it,but I need a cable to go from serial port adaptor to connect to SS2K hand set.It has a RS323C on it.

Where do I get one of these cables?and how much?

Also,what planaterium program is needed,I have Sky3.

I want one that I has a list that I can dial up,scroll through and tap on object desired.

All up it seems a lot better system my old NEQ 6,this SS2K seems more like a scientific instrument. It is such a shame Vixen no longer make these.

Thanks for any pointers

cheers Chris

There's a cable here that is supposed to do the job: http://www.astronomiser.co.uk/mcc.htm.

If you can find the pinout for the mini DIN plug then somebody with basic soldering skills could make one. There's a Yahoo group that might be able to provide this info: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ss2k/

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick.found the pic of the one I need,I think I know someone who

could make me one up.I just thought there might be somewhere in Australia I could buy one from.I have one that would work with a EQ 6.

Thanks for help,Chris

No probs, Chris. I would whip one up for you but I'm going away on holidays soon and spare time is scarce.

Thanks for offer of help Rick.

I think Geoff Johnston may be able to help,I am just wondering since I have

a cable that goes into the end of serial adaptor, the other end which went into

EQ 6,could that be cut off and have a RS323C plug point put on it?

Thanks Chris

Yep, you should be able to cut the cable and attach a mini DIN plug.
