Real Membership count

I see the latest new members Number is 9,308, yet the count at the bottom of the Forums page is 7,847.
What is the real membership count?
This is not a criticism just a query:)

The one at the bottom of the page is the real number.
The other number includes banned spammers etc.

We're closing in on 8000!
