Very nice apaulo. Pity about the weather recently, don't know about Balnarring but Geelong is thankfully very wet. Hope it stops raining long enough to get outside for a few hours - nice dark skies down that way?

Hi Paul, Nice beginners images. I would have been very happy withn these when I started digital imaging but lets not go back to film. Again my comments extend to exposure time. Get as long as you can and processing. Pay particular attention to the histogram and it's black point.

Keep at it.

Hi Doug

I understand the histogram but not to sure what you mean about the black point?. Can you please tell me what it is used for and how I can adjust it in DSS. I have noticed a major improvement with histogram adjustment, I am now working on dark frames and flat frame additions to the stacking process.
I intended to try my luck again tonight but the cloulds have rolled in.
Frustrating this interest of astronomy, when I am fishing I just move to another spot.

Rowland the sun is always shining in Balnarring! Except when I want to use the telescope!

Regards Paul.

You clipped the black point on the left hand side of the histogram and lost loads of good data ( see picture).
Try to keep the data away from clipping.

Very good photos in color, I see the a little OOF. Maybe a deconvolution can help refocus a little?
