Well the weather here is crap and even if it were fine, I have the moon to contend with for the next couple of weeks. So no deep sky astro shots until then.

It would not be so bad if I could look and image Saturn, but as we all know thats an early morning target at the moment.

Sooo, I am at a loose end. Perhaps I will get some much needed sleep.

I know the feeling dude.
I havent bothered much through the winter and now that the nights are a little warmer I have wanted to do some observing.

Living in Melbourne, clear cloudless nights seem to be very rare.
I check the satellite cloud pics when im hopeful of a clear night. It seems theres an ever present band of cloud constantly swirling over southern Victoria. Here it seems theres only about 3-4 opportunities for good viewing each month with a moonless sky.

In the last month I took my scope out just once only to find the transparency was absolutely terrible.

Going through the same up in queensland, 1 minute we have a thunderstorm the next we have bushfires and then my old enemy comes out for a couple of days,Im looking foward to clear nights and mornings to view saturn and a few other i have not yet viewed in my new scope.

I haven't observed at night for a while, it's just too hard at the moment with a 6 month old, a 3yr old and a 5yr old.. by the time they're in bed asleep I just couldn't be bothered staying up late outside because my wife obviously wants me to spend time with her.

I've been doing some early morning observing lately, catching Saturn, and a month or so ago, orion and the pleiades..

But now, even they're too high for me to catch - the sun is rising so damn early at the moment, the sky is blue at like 4:30am.. ain't no way i'm getting up at 3am! 3:40 is bad enough! and staying up until 2am just won't work when I have to go to work in the morning.

Daylight savings starts this weekend though, so the sky will be darker in the mornings again, looking forward to that so I can try and take some pics of Saturn and soon Jupiter and Mars.

Oh and it's been raining for the last 7 days here in Sydney area, so observing opportunities have been few and far between. I was lucky enough to have a clear night on Saturday night to show my in-laws the moon.

I tried showing them 47Tuc but the sky was just too washed out.

Still have not been out for a night of astrophotography, really getting withdrawals now. When is winter going to end?

Hi all,
man I am ever pleased you guys are suffering as well, I thought it was just the weather over here that was lousy.
I have had a few nights that started out promising, only to cloud over and end the thought of any observing/imaging.
Heck, I would be happy to see the moon, and even happier to be able to webcam it!!
It must be a universal thing?
