I booked in for the last 2 days and may be able to sneek in a day or 2 extra but considering that the last few Astrofests have resulted in broken bones/cars and other disasters just days before leaving, I'm expecting a large asteroid to crash through the roof any day now....

JJJ, We, my Dear Alice and i have just been delivered our IVECO TWIN DAILY 50C18D from Italy, ;) it is just a monster, :eyepop: but it has to pull, and carry our new 5th Wheeler, ;)

Well that is next, it is in Ballarat, but has to be converted to Australian standards. :)

Power, gas, and all that sort of stuff, we will have it here in 3 weeks :D:D.

Then we will annoy all you lot at your Star Parties, as we travel this wonderful land of ours :cool::campfire::newbie::zzz2 ::zzz2:

Me and a couple of friends are coming for the first few days with my telescope! None of us have ever been to an astrofest/starparty thing before, so it should be fascinating for all involved:lol:

Hopefully in 2011.

ROD!!!!:eyepop: noooo you must be kidding,

you could virtually keep in touch via a telecommunications device that transmits speech by means of electric signals - (or the analogue phone on the wall at the house near the imaging field)

Booked in at the camping area for the whole event. My daughter Rose is turning 21 on the 8th(Sunday), and is wanting to come up for Sat and Sun nights. Reckons a starparty sounds "waycool", very Big bang theory...

Listen you organisers of Astrofest:question: - you promised that it would be perfect for the whole event ;) looking forward a tad to some very sketchy forecasting:sadeyes: it says that Pauls half of the imaging field will be cloudy and mine will be clear:P:hi:

Can you organise for his half to clear in case i wish to image that way:D

I'll be there (baring the unexpected) from Tuesday 10th to Sunday 15th, and running off on the Friday to bring the wife and daughter (3˝) up for those last two nights. Their first time. Just hope when its time to pack up on Sunday there's room in the car for everybody and everything!

This wet weather we are having here worries me a bit though. Hopefully the weather gets all the wetness out of its system by the time Astrofest rolls around, and we can have cold clear nights.

See you there!

I'm sure someone would start a new thread afterwards about how awesome it was :(

Hi Jeanette.
I've booked to bring the old motor-home up on the Wednesday and will stay till the end. All being well, I'll have just a HEQ5Pro with a short-tube Orion 100mm achro and a mono HX916 camera. Taht'll keep me busy enough.

Excellent. I'll be picking your brain re. my mount. Something is just not right with it, or maybe with it's operator. But I'd value your advice on the subject.

Kinda depends on little Hayden. He's only 12 weeks old and not sleeping through the night yet. My wife and I are sharing the night-time feedings and settling when he wakes up. I just don't feel right spending an all-nighter doing something for myself. It's not fair on her, or him. I'll just wait to see how things go, see when he does start sleeping right through, then I might have to start whispering sweet words to Kristy about letting me out of the house for a night. :)

You have no idea how sneaky I've tried to be these last few months. Occasionally mentioning something about Astrofest having house facilities, it's not all camping. And how Tony was walking around last year with a newborn in a sling and all were happy. Trying to gently push for her and Hayden to come as well. But I'm just realising it aint gonna happen. It really would muck up his routine enough that we'd have to start again, and don't want to go through that. We're close to getting him sleeping now, just a matter of time.

Rest assured, when it does happen and when I can get out for a weekend, you'll all know about it. :)

You're a good Dad Troy.
The first is always the most precious.

[1ponders]
29-07-2010, 05:37 PM
Muck up his routine???? Take it from a long term father Troy, get him used to it. Young. Kids usually love to travel, assuming both dad and mom are fond of the idea. Its interesting, its stimulating. My kids went everywhere and they loved it and learnt to deal with people of all ages right from their own early ages.

But maybe 12 weeks is still a bit young for the first one. ;) They are precious after all. :)

Anytime, just send me a pm. You might have to remind me though if you wait more than a few weeks.

One gets a bit blasé after the first couple.
When my Tom was just 10 weeks old, I took him and his older brother Jim (11yrs) to Bali. We based ourselves up in the mountain town of Ubud. Away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. It's a piece of cake at that age. He was feeding well and in very good health. (he was a massive baby LOL) No disposable nappies either, I used cloth and hand washed them every day.
I figure that if you've got to feed and change them anyway, it may as well be in an exotic location.

I think he'd be fine too. It's mum that needs the routine a bit more than he does. That's just between you and me. ;)

Not this year but seriously considering it next year. By that time I'll probably have spent our entire house deposit on telescopes and accessories  My uncle owns a property at Linville, we actually pass Camp Duckdang to get there so I'm certain once I get my telescope I'll be having my own private astro fests quite frequently :)
