You might like to get in contact with the Hervey Bay Astro Society and maybe get along to their new moon night.

Mr Massey is a top fella and I know you'd have a ball.
Take care on those roads. Be safe.
Have a great relaxing holiday Doug.

Thanks everyone, I hope to do a bit of fishing, a lot of walking and whatever else comes to mind. It will be lovely to just sit back, forget about work, and watch the world go by.
I will make the effort to chase up Steve Massey. A nice guy I have spent quite some time talking to on the phone.
Thanks again everyone.
Now counting down to Sunday morning.

Why would you leave those crisp clear winter nights in Victoria to laze in the sun up North ?:)

Spent a few days of frantic driving to get here. I am going to use my GPS as a boat anchor I think. It took me on every back road in Queensland. I've seen crops and land use I never thought existed in this country. I had a visit from Ron (Astroron), great to finally meet him. We had an interesting evening talking about all sorts. Thanks for paying me the visit Ron
Tomorrow we are heading down to Helensvale for a few days then hopefully down to CoffsHarbour for another week or so. Then Newcastle area, ShellHarbour then back home.
My biggest concern is travelling with my dog and trying to find a nice park which allows dogs.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated.
 Good on ya Doug :) Glad to hear you got to catch up with Ron

Hi Doug Thanks for having me stay the night, it was great to catch up with you.:)
I am with you on the GPS I asked it to take me to Pomonna, via the forestry track after forty five kilometers driving through the bush, it brought me back out on the Tin Can Bay road, about five kilometers from Gympie, instead of fifty kilometers down the Bruce Highway:mad2:.
Regards to the wife .
Cheers

Hi Jen, I have just spent a lovely evening with Peter and Elise (Mr and Mrs Mozzie) It was really great to catch up with them both and meet their two lovely boys. Thank you so much for the great feast and the great company, much appreciated. You are both very lucky people living in one of the prettiest parts of this country. I am jealous, can't you tell.
Thanks again.
The trip is nearing and end with us leaving Moonee Beach next Wednesday for a quick trip home before going to BSG.

Only a couple of days left. I have really enjoyed this holiday. It's been great to get out of the bitter bitting cold of Mt Beauty and settle in a great part of the country here at Moonee Beach. My wife is already talking which month to take off next year for a month in the Coffs Harbour area. I has been great catching up with Peter and Elise (Mr and Mrs Mozzie) your welcome has been greatly appreciated.
Leaving here on Wednesday morning for the long drive home.
Thanks to everyone who has been so welcoming along this trip and my one tip for all you travellers, don't bother going further north than Coffs Harbour.
