Howdy.
I think in the end, I have over cooked the processing trying to get everything in the frame to show up, but it will have to do for now.

M8, Lagoon Nebula, total of 5hrs LRGB, Megrez 110 guided on an EQ6, QHY9 @-20C.

Well, I recon that's pretty good, the subtle dust envelopes are nicely captured. A little more vibrancy in the colours might be worth a look  but it's a terrific image.

That looks very good but a bit more colour would make it pop out

Subtle and delicate but it lacks a bit of impact to me. Lots of things done right though.

Thank you very much, guys.
Lacking colour/vibrancy/pop is a problem I do have with my images. I'll try to do something with it this week and hopefully get the time for a repro.:)

Superb shot Grey. Tight stars and great details. Very natural processing too. Top marks on all counts.

Nice image Graham but I do have to agree with the other comments about it looking a bit flat. You might want to try a bit of selective sharpening which you can use with a layer mask to sharpen and highlight the edges a little more. A small selective lift to the saturation of the red will also give it a bit of a lift.

I hope you don't mind me having a go at your image but it may give you a few ideas.

A very nice image Graham - you've captured a lot of fainter nebulosity there and it has a natural flavour to it all. One thing - many of the stars appear to me to have a reddish duplicate slightly to the right of each star. Only the stars in the dark areas (not in the nebula)? Maybe a registration issue, or possibly my monitor is getting too old and I need to replace it !?!

Thanks for the comments, Marc!:)

Doug, you know I would'nt mind, and thanks for the constructive criticism. I am toying with a repro, but I've done my back in again and can hardly do anything, hence even the delay in a reply to the post.:mad2:

David, cheers! I think that is from my processing where the core of the star has burnt through due to carelesness. :rolleyes:Sorry sir, I won't do it again:rolleyes::lol:

I bit the bullet and have performed a reprocess on this image, which taught me a few more things and made me pay attention to some others.

What do you think, is it better or worse? Constructive criticism required.:eyepop:

Thanks!:)

That's a very nice image, I like the natural smooth look and the colours being slightly understated (= more realistic). Great effort :)
