Hi Al
Great image! So much to see - I must have wronged someone, no Sun for me for over 3 weeks now!

Thanks Matt.

You get that from time to time. It won't last forever though.

Wow Al, noice. You're really getting the handle on the rig now.

You've really got me thinking that maybe I should chop my PST and build the combo PST/ED80 rig. Just as well I don't have a mono webcam with a large enough chip to fit the whole sun in. ;)

Hmmm interesting Paul. I have resisted temptation to go that path Paul... only because now that I have the Obs, I have the ED80 and the C11 set up side by side, not so much as a guiding rig but so I can use either scope without having to change scopes, balance, etc. The ED80 seems to give me wonderful results with a Ha and blocking filter. ...and I can still use it at night:).

I haven't used my PST in a while so I'm starting to think of selling it... maybe... Ultimately I'd like to get a Lunt LS75 (or whatever they replace it with) for the ED80:D.

I'll have to think long and hard about this. Like you I know have the ED80 pier mounted and its just too easy to use it as it is.

Besides there isn't enough fine weather on weekends these days for me to worry too much about it.

Great picture Al ... am I understanding your chat with Paul correctly ... you use an ED80 with some sort of filtering to do this ??? So if yes then I could use my Sky90 with suitable filters to do this ... I hope I have this right because that puts a whole new dimension to this game.

Once again .. great picture of our star

That's correct Jeff. I use a Coronado SM40 H alpha filter on the front of the ED80. I bought it originally to double stack my PST. The othe rpart you need is a blocking filter at the EP/camera end of the scope. I have a Lunt B1200 blocking filter (which replaces the diagonal).;)

Thanks!

Al where did you get your adapter for the filter > ED80? I have the double for the PST. could be good to have a larger option

 Well... no... only if you want to do it safely!:P

I did a little drawing and took my filter in to the local machine shop and I think it cost me $50. You might be able to swing one for a carton... just depends on who you're talking to.;)

I can email you the drawing if you like. I think I have your yahoo address. Let me know and I'll find it and PDF it and send it to you.

Jeez thanks Al. Service. :)

I am assuming of course that the PST version will fit your adapter?
