Well, after much deliberating, I finally bought the camera adapter for the 500D.
Here is the results of tonights first crack on the moon. This is my best pic.
Most pics were sub-par (out of focus etc etc), but it's all about experimenting.
Though, unsure if I got the light levels right.
The concept was getting the Apennine "shadows".

Pic is a set of 3. (Photomatix and CS5 were used as well)
First one is the full sized one, the second photo is the crop
Taken with Canon 500D strapped to the 2x Barlow (afocal)

Excellent images I like the first one more than the second one because of the light & composition.
I'd consider cropping a little of the left side in the 1st one to emphasize the ridge (is it a ridge?)

Amazing work!

Wow that is fantastic especially for AFocal. Even my prime focus one dont come close to yours.

If you save them as RAW images you can tweek levels in Canon utilitise.

I would love to know what Barlow you use as my 3 x Barlow doesn't seem to get the clarity I need.

Hi Brett, very smooth, crisp and well resolved detail in these images.

A job very well done.

Thanks for the replies :D
I was a bit of kid last night, you know, full of toys and a clear sky.
It was a bit of a rush, as I was trying to beat the clouds in "Cloudtoria", but very happy with first ever trial of a proper setup.

The picture was an experiment itself. I wanted to toy with a few things.

The details are as follows :

The pic is 1 exposure at Ap at 00 and I think it was around 1/40 sec shutter. It was a RAW from 12" dob with Canon 500D (really a Kiss x3) connected to a 2x Barlow (as you know Prime does not focus at all)
EXIF data was deleted. Then converted to 3 of the exact same picture
3 pictures were made to B&W then blended with photomatrix (I suppose a HDR)
Then played around with a bit with Photoshop CS5
Huge experiment (for me) and I like what it produced.

Just a Bintel 2 x .... 2 inch
