Ptolemaeus, Tycho, Triesnecker & Clavius

Yawn - zzzzzz.....had another productive early morning with the Moon. The seeing was very good at times, but not good enough to capture the rille in the Alpine Valley. I did manage to image Ptolemaeus, Tycho, Triesnecker & Clavius as follows, before falling asleep at the hand paddle!

Celestron C9.25
TeleVue x2.5 PowerMate
Philips ToUcam
Takahashi EM200 mount
JMI NGFS motofocus

Imaging details:
Acquired with K3CCDTools
1800 frame
1/25 sec
10fps
Stacked withRegistax3
Finished in Corel PhotoPaint

The stacks were as follows:
Ptolemaeus - 526, Tycho - 519, Triesnecker - 742 & Clavius - 316.

Still a long way to go before catching up to Bird's Theophilus, but an enjoyable session none-the-less.

Dennis - these are really Very good :) , particularly like the delicate creases or rilles in the third image.

Didn't know you had a Tak EM200 mount :scared: those are awesome!

Hi Rob

The EM200 Temma 2 is a superb, extremely well made mount - mechanically; but, very, very backwards electronically compared to my 10 year old Vixen Skysensor 2000 and the modern GoTo systems from Meade and Celestron.

There is no Lunar Rate, so the drift in Dec and RA are quite noticeable at high magnification, although I am not complaining, otherwise I risk incurring the wrath of them good ol' dobbers out there in the IIS community :P

Thanks for all the feedback and comments guys, your words are encouraging and I’ll store them for those nights when things just go wrong no matter what you do. We've been enjoying an incredible spell of very stable weather in SE Qld over the last 2 or 3 days, the seeing has varied from beautiful one night to not quite perfect the next!

In my 12 years living here, I have only experienced seeing this good 2 or 3 times per annum, so it has been great to be on holiday and make the most of it, although it has been quite challenging to ensure my family and social commitments to Xmas haven’t suffered….too much that is.

Just don’t mention the mosquitoes, unbearable heat, re-install of K3CCDTools at 3:00am today......

Ahh, Mr Ng - you have discovered my secret. I am using a remotely controlled Tasco 60mm refractor in Lunar orbit. ;)
