A couple of images from 10chain hill on Saturday night.
A hopeful M51 but at 14degrees it is way too low and not there long enough to get a lot of data, not to mention the moon.
The Helix is a quick process to see what we got.
Both shot at F8 on an FS-102 with a QHY9 @ -35C.

Good to see some results from a long night in the cold, Robin

nice to see M51 imaged from the southern hemisphere
Wow - they're both really smooth shots Robin. Looks like a great haul for the night to me. M51 starting to show lots of detail even allowing for lack of elevation. Plenty of Helix detail too

both look great, though as you said more data would have been better. Helix is my pick - i like that

The M51 is pretty good given the altitude, and the Helix has nice extension, I like it.

M51 seems to have lost colour in the upload to here but there's bugger all anyway and it's all really noisey, it was only visible for an hour odd after dark. Maybe a OSC is the better choice for these low targets. There's a lot of helix data though, 10pm to 5:30am, I'll do a proper job on both when I can :)

Very nice Robin, Helix is very very nice with great resolved extention in the outer ring.
Well done Mate.

Robin,
Wow, that Helix is beautiful. Very, very smooth. There's a touch of magenta/red cast to the background. Might want to fix that.
Look forward to seeing your final rendition.

Cheers guys, almost caught up on sleep and had a closer look at the data and there's horizontal banding in all the subs. It's in that helix as well if you zoom right in. This was first capture using the latest qhy9 drivers and I ran it on normal speed downloads, back to low speed by the looks :(
Hmm - was going to say I can't see it in the jpg, but is visible about outer halo on left side of object. Still, hardly a major problem on such a nice pic. Be interested to hear how slow download goes.
