Galactic Centre

1 hour and 37 minutes of our Galactic Centre.
Imaged through the Canon 20d and a Canon 17-40mm lens @ ISO400 and F5.6.
:lol: I had high hopes for this image, but it ended as a comedy of errors.
Firstly I lost at least half and hour of exposure time because I didn't check the lens often enough for condensation.
But also I'd not checked the camera settings after playing with the focus in Images Plus. It was left capturing in small jpegs.
sigh......
Being the stubborn little miss I am, I wasn't going to waste all those 5min subs, so here it is. The best I could do with the data at hand, resized 50%.

LOL AF last year, I think there were at least 4 people in our area of the field caught out in similar circumstances. (that owned up to it anyway)
I'll be obsessively checking my camera from now on.

Great going Jeanette. As you say, the only people that don't have errors just aren't admitting to them. Really nice shot salvaged from the frustrations there!

I'm sure once the multitudes realize the benefits of using a mask then the there will be many more owning up to forgetfulness :whistle: Though forgetting to turn it back to RAW. Welllll that should only happen once :D:D:D

Seriously though Nettie, its a very nice shot all things considered. I like the framing and orientation. :thumbsup: Just think of it as a practice shot in preparation for the all nighter in RAW you'll do from Duckadang. And you won't have a moon to contend with then either. :)

A nicely done widefield image always has high impact value.

The camera's too hot and I've got bad pixels
PS won't work and the laptop's on the fizzles
My mount won't track right and the guider's gone whack
And I don't know if it'll ever come back
I left my bart mask on and my pics are hocus
But at least I know I've got bloody good focus
