Well with the moon hanging around I decided It would be nice to shoot some open clusters . Here is a 3 minute shot of M46 and NGC 2438 clearly visible in the consterlation of Puppis .
This cluster sits at approximately 5000 LY away and glows at mag:6.1 while
NGC 2438 is 3300 LY away .

Beautiful image Louie, like ving said it's great to see your images again.

EDIT: I just noticed: -approx in the middle of the image a purple "bubble", is that a planetary neb?

Hey Louie, that's M46! It should go in the December challenge objects threads! :)

Beautiful image of a nice cluster, Louie. Very good representation of what we see at the eyepiece! well done.

Was this with your skywatcher? What camera?

Great shot Louie! I discovered the M46 and planetary "double" at SPSP in 2005. It is beautiful as a viewing object too! One of my favourites.

Thanks Rod and Narayan ! It is a beautiful cluster to view Rod , and Narayan you must be having withdrawals by now mate ! The moon ruins DSO's thats why I decided to shoot some clusters, though gradients are still a problem .

BTW Louie, your namesake (toy poodle called Louis) arrived yesterday. It goes without saying that he is a very handsome young pooch.....
