Hi folks,

Been quietly lurking around having a look at all the great work being posted lately! and thought it was about time I posted a pic or two of what I have been up to..
Been rather busy building and when the skies are clear at night, imaging. Heaps behind in the actual processing of them. But the other week actually sat down and caught up a bit! Also getting my new widefield setup ready for a test! :D.
Well here is a fairly deepish Eagle taken with 8" f/4.5 newt and cooled 40D.
Originally taken 40 images at 5min but had to throw out quiet alot due to cloud and ended up with 26 x 5min. Processed with Imagesplus and Photoshop. Soo much to learn in Imagesplus! Only scratching the surface...
Plenty of jpg compression to get under 200ks and image under 50% in size.
Comments most welcome.
Cheers Gary

Sensational, Gary.

The thing I love most about your images is that they look like dreamscapes. There's a really soft and smooth quality to them that really appeals to me.

Wonderful effort.

Great image Gary. The pillars display pleasing detail yet appear natural, not over worked. You've done well to pick up the outer expanses of nebulosity with 5min subs.

A suggestion; I think you could push the blue channel using curves slightly to give the O and B spectral stars more punch. It does not need to be much, just a minor adjustment in the mid tones (see below). As its not a major tweak, it will not alter the balance given the red channel dominates. It would also emphasise the reflective dust surrounding the pillars where at present your image presents a orange hue. I just left it at that, but you could also finish off with raising the black point on the red channel to bring it back in line with the green and blue channels. Though I felt the image lost some vibrancy. See what you think as it is a matter of personal taste. Again, top work on this image. Well done.

Nice one Gary,
good to see an image from you and that you are just sitting on the fence watching!

Look forward to the others you have as well as images from your new WF setup.

All the best

Nice image Gary,
I just love the control of the stars around the neck of the eagle.
Something that I have to work on.

Jase: Thanks for that info, sometimes I get a bit slack and don`t keep checking the histogram, does look a little orange now you mention it!
Now fixed!

Nice image Gary. The Eagle isn't my favourite object but you have done a good rendition of it.
