its the best time to go out and watch as well i use to do windsurfing in storm conditions so I'm use to it :D.

I must admit, we had a doozy of a storm here about 2 years ago ( felt cyclonic, though wasnt) .. we dont normally get waves, but we had whoppers, and the spray was coming fright up onto my land ( ~15 mt), but we also lost about 3 metres sand!! Lucky I was home and able to rescue wooden seat/table on shoreline. I took quite a few piccies too. ;)
