Randwick Girls' High School this Wendesday night

Hi All,

I am hoping to take Tantalus out for first light on Wednesday night on the oval at Randwick Girls' High School. Mental4Astro will join me.

He and I have plans to finish my 3 pole trus conversion http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=60865 of the 13.1 Coulter Odyssey now named Tantalus earlier in the day.

You'd be most welcome to join us.

At this stage I'm looking at a 7 pm kickoff and packed up and gone between 11pm and 11:30pm.

The moon will only be two days old. Fingers crossed for a clear night!

Looking at the synoptic chart I'd say you're a bit optimistic re Wednesday night; the soggy grey blanket will be here to stay as long as we have an easterly/south east windstream, probably until the weekend.

And I'll eat my (panama) hat if it clears on Wed night...

Hopefully will be a good night for you guys, unfortunately I'm stuck at work. Just had a peek outside to see crescent moon nicely with Venus.

Four of us braved the conditions. We hunted down a few Messier objects and inbetween chewed the fat. The cloud rolled in around 9:30pm so we packed up and left. It was getting a little chilly about that time as well.
