When you look at the Amazon site, there are often very strange prices. A new book for $49 and a used one for $100+. What is going on here? Look here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0943396735)

Mostly the high secondhand prices are for books that tend to be difficult to get new. Guess the secondhand sellers are trying to make maximum profit.

Simple answer is.... Most items on Amazon are sold by independent sellers, online stores etc. They put their own prices on the items at a value they believe the item is worth. Amazon do not control the prices. Amazon is merely the central online shopping outlet. You the consumer decide.
