Hi Trevor,

I've got a small panel (~A5) that I use for my 100mm refractor. It's barely wide enough for the 100mm - it covers the lens cell, but is not wide enough to cover the fixed dewcap on my scope. I've built a frame from foam that centres the panel in front of the dewcap. There doesn't seem to be any difference in the light intensity of my flat fields if I put the panel hard up against the lens cell or infront of the dewcap.

I've tried to get the measurements of the illuminated area for an A4 panel - but didn't get a straight answer from Hong Kong. A full A4 sheet is 210mm wide which should be just wide enough to cover an 8 inch scope, but it's no guarantee.

I'd rather not get an A3 panel, as I'm not really sure about cutting the sheets down - any advice on this would be welcome!

I'm not imaging as yet with an 8 inch scope, so I haven't pursued the issue any further.

Regards
David T

Dig through the archives, there has been threads here before, with a very good Oz supplier, where mine came from.

Try here (http://www.elec2go.com.au/category7_1.htm) . They have a 12v DC option as well as the AC version.

Trevor the EL Panels are excellent for flats.
The A3 should suit your 8" scope.

Have a look at my setup in this post. (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=383472&postcount=65)

Also this thread about EL Panels. (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=37698&highlight=panel&page=3)

David as far as I know, you can't cut the A3 panels down.

As Geoff mentioned, try elec2go.com.au (http://www.elec2go.com.au/category7_1.htm), ask for Mandy, she's very helpful.
