OWWWW....poor fellow! Looks like a harsh lesson. I hope he didn't hurt himself and managed to save the cameras from any permanent damage.

It's a shame some of the utubers called him some horrible names. Anyone can make mistakes and we all have different levels of expertise in the game. Wedding photographers have to start somewhere too. Give the guy a break!

Thanks for posting this Troy, it is a good example to us all to be more aware of our surroundings. Thanks to the photographer for a memorable lesson that will stick in our minds.

See? There is always good from bad if you look at it right.

Baz.

Can't help but wonder if he was able to salvage anything off the CF cards. I would imagine they wouldn't want to stage the ceremony again. :)

Ouch,
You have to feel sorry for the guy.

He could have easily hurt himself there.

Hi all, :)
Maybe a variance of attitude here. The person recording the video could have warned him. It just seems to me that the "stills photographer" was deliberately not warned. Dirty play!

But who really knows?

Cheers Marty

 Epic! Could have been much worse though if he was holding one of those external flash power units. :scared:

They should have entitled the video :

...wait for it...

"Born again wedding photographer"

A classic video that's for sure :) I do feel sorry for him and think someone should have warned him, but, it's a wedding, everyone's looking at the bride and groom, just assuming everyone else is looking after themselves :)

The publisher of the YouTube vid says under the video that the gear and photo's were fine and he continued to shoot the wedding after changing clothes. Good on him.

I certainly would never walk backwards, blind, without knowing where I was going - for anyone. The videographer really could have said "uhmm...Bill... behind you!" Yes, poor bloke, but common sense hey? I bet he won't be doing that again.

My father in law shoots weddings. He recently had his camera fall off the tripod 10mins after starting to shoot at the bride's house. The lens snapped off the body - both were a write off. Unfortunately he's not the sort of personality who can easily put such a thing behind him - I know he should just look at the gear as just a tool of the trade, but he's just not like that. He then had to pick himself up and shoot the entire wedding on his backup camera.

There is a lot of pressure on a wedding photographer - I would never want that job. That is why you can only enter a photograph in the "wedding" section of a competition if you are the principal photographer for that wedding, otherwise it you can only enter the photograph as a "portrait".

Yes I had a giggle however I feel very sorry for the fella. I think the video cam was set up and left on un manned.
I've had a few epic fails myself.

Same. Laughed a bit , then thought "poor bugger, how embarrassing" :( Yes could have hit his noggin' and done far worse damage.

If the video camera was "unmanned", why did it suddenly change it's field of view to include the fountain?

That'll teach him for using a Canon. :P What a crack up.:rofl:Not much of a pro. Did not even know where the pond was located. Don't feel sorry for him in the least. Rule number one with photography is don't walk and shoot.:lol:

Well he was clearly waiting for it to happen coz he was still filming when the bloke was trying to get help out of the water. Maybe the competition? :)

Must admit that the possibility of it being a hoax or setup did cross my mind, but looks more elaborate (ie more actors) than most of those ones.
