There sure is some wierd weather going around lately.
At the moment we should have pristine clear, dry skies perfect for astronomy...I look out the window & what have we got...clouds, dark clouds & RAIN!!
I'm not a happy camper. :mad2:
Its absolutely amazing - top of 6.4 yday for Alice Springs :eyepop:. How can that be??? Dont think we have any Alice members, but would be interesting to hear from them.
Echuca only got to 6, jiminy!!
Weather up here is totally out of whack as well. It is usually clear skies for us from April to November, but we have had barely a clear night. Cloud + cloud + cloud. Terrible . We can put up with no viewing during the wet season, but not in July!!
We have our group viewing Saturday night, cloud is predicted. :mad2:

Average nighttime mins for July in Renmark SA are at -2.3C, That is about 6 below average! Each of the last 7 nights have been sub freezing. Mildura sitting on 0 aswell.
This has to be a major anomaly, even for a short period of time like a week.

If you don't like the cold you could always move to tropical New York.

offtopic much?
Yeah we all know New York can get hot, but this thread is about cold in Australia.
Those poor people!
It was a balmy -30 °C up here on Benmore Peak...

Humble apologies. OK everyone get back on topic and be miserable.

lol talking about unusual cold in Alice Springs and tropical Australia is really miserable indeed LOLCANO
I'm about to cry.
Yeha, that grey thing in the sky....your day WILL be ruined if you see it every day for months on end as you do in Melbounre, unlike in Sydney, Mr NSW Sydney inhabitant. Consider yourself lucky. Damn lucky. And get rid of your "cloud coast battler" title...come to Victoria and then you can wear it.

1) So Gary shouldn't have mentioned Benmore Peak in NZ?? Surely just as much as off topic.
2) Wollongong is _not_ Sydney. The escarpment here creates a distinct microclimate. Virtually any on-shore breeze produces cloud. There is a good reason the natural vegetation of the area was largely rainforest. That is why I travel inland to observe.
3) DON'T tell me what to do.

Well his post was far more on topic than some normal heatwave on teh other side of the planet that no one gives two craps about
Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle it's all the same. Your worst "microclimate" couldn't hold a candle to Melbourne.
okay I am at ya command

Whimps! I have a 300m driveway and went from sun, to cloud to drizzle to hail to snow by the time I walked its length, 10 minutes at a leisurely stroll. 20 minutes later, sun!
Gotta love Tassie!
:lol::lol: crazy weather all over!!
Yea, yer still sooks.
Leon
I get -5ºc quite often in the morning when riding the motorbike to work.
It's a good day when I can feel my fingers before 10am.
