All,
Got the C8 out this week to get it ready for the weekend. I haven't used this gear for a long time (too busy with the SDM)
All set up tonight, plug the power in, & no go. No lights, nothing.
Checked the power supply - all good
Checked the external fuse box - all good.

Can anyone tell me if there is anything internal that could be blown???
I'd even go as far as say that it could have had reverse polarity run through it. Wold that do anything to teh internals????

Cheers, B

Reverse polarity will indeed stuff the handcontroller within seconds. Did it once myself a few years ago.

The on off switch in these mounts are notorious for failing. Check that with your multimeter.

agree, the on/off switch is terrible
I had similar issues with mine a couple years ago.
eventually realised it was the switch, now I leave the switch to "on" all the time, just take the power connector out.

If you're hand controller is out, you'll need ot order a new one...
i just replaced mine which was talking gobledygook to me.

now runs fine

surely they must be polarity protected? It only takes a power diode or a Schottky.

You would think so.

Thanks for the input.

I've heard before about the on/off switch & I do mostly leave it in the ON position. But of course I have played with it & so, yes it could be that.
I'll test it tonight when I get home.

I know that the mount has had reverse polarity run through it once in the past & there was no ongong issues. So I was sort of thinking (hoping) that if this is what's happened it won't do any damage.

Will investigate more tomight.
