Sunday is obviously the day of rest for the weather gods... a chance for them to relax in the sun... it seems the only time I get clear skies lately is on a sunday during the day... sometimes...:P.
Today the sun has some nice activity. It seems to be getting busier each time I see it:thumbsup:. AR1084 is looking good.

An excellent series Al - they look quite dramatic with all that action!
Cheers

I reckon I'm also going to get into macro photo of oranges. :P ;)
Superb work Al. Lots going on in that full disc. It's almost as if you can touch it and feel the texture. Quite amazing.

Thanks Dennis.
Yeah I'm really happy with the way my setup works at prime focus.:) When I throw the 2.5x Powermate in the train though I don't think I can process it any sharper without introducing artifacts. It's a lot to ask of a little SM40!;)
Now there's a MasterChef Challenge... make an orange look like that photo!

I have reprocessed the 1st full disk image with AviStack. I have struggled to use Avistack properly in the past, so with a little inspiration from the article in the latest AS&T, I've given it another go.:)
Here it is.

Very Nice.
I quite like AVIStack. I prefer it to registacks as I understand the settings and it seems more logical to me. I have been beta testing AviStack V2 over the last couple of weeks. Very Very Different Interface to the previous version. But very powerful. Has some new features to let you save the workflow and settings to allow it to batch process. You can also indicate which steps you want to do manually and which ones to automate, etc. Should be out any day now.
I used it to process the 12 vids I took when I was trying the Solar mosaic. I manaully processed one, saved the workflow and settings and got it to automatically process the rest just pausing to let me pick alignment points for each one. Very fast

Accoding to my calcs for the SM 40:
Dawes Limit = 2.9"
Raleigh Limit at Ha = 4.1"
At FL = 760mm (ED80), each pixel on the DMK 41 = 1.26"
At FL = 1900 (ED80 + 2.5x Powermate), each pixel = 0.5"
Not much wonder the high res shots with the 2.5x Powermate are soft!:P
