This is a first, quite ingenious!

A £5 million contract for the world's deepest offshore wind turbines, which could create around 60 jobs for a Burntisland construction company, was announced today.
The structures will be approximately 70 metres high and will be sited in the Moray Firth more than 23km from shore in water depths of around 45 metres. more info here...

I reckon it's a great idea. Offshore they shouldn't worry anyone.

Although there will be an 'exclusion zone' around the turbines and they will have to be lit at night I should think. Will be interesting........

Yes environment is or should always be an issue where any technology is concerned, but anything that promotes 'clean energy' should be taken seriously I think?

The ones that complain should go without electricity! :P

I would rather see vast arrays of wind turbines across Gippsland than the smoky greyish-brown horizon that stretches for 100+kms at the moment.

Wind turbines are great except that they normally want to put them in the most picturesque places, and then theres the NIMBY factor.
