We all see those beaut photos of the sun with those lovely prominences around the edge, but what about all that stuff in the middle??? Presumably there are prominences going off all over the sphere. All we see is some speckeldy stuff. In real 3-D there would be prominences shooting directly out to the observer .... wouldn't there??:shrug:

Yes. Prominences in from of the sun's disc are known as filaments, and you can see them with your PST.
