Well, here is my effort for the event. Does not have the level of detail of others but I did manage to get a full set through the evening.

nice work but a small area of detail - you need to rotate your top 5 images
Looks brilliant Michael!:)

Thanks Molly.
Thanks, I'll look into that. Probably cos I had to move the camera near the end to keep a clear view.
I'll see if I can create a larger version as well.

For my money, I would reverse the order. Although the Moon is rising as we observe it is actually moving against the motion of the stars... and the Earth's shadow.
The end result will emphasize the shape and size of the shadow as well, and eliminate the contradiction of the shadow curving away from each other on either side of mid-eclipse.
 hey Michael that looks cool how do you do that i got a full set of pics too ;)

Nice work Michael.
I had a lot of cloud for the second half and was trying to explain what was going to happen with the shadow to my wife.
Your images here show exactly what happened.
Thanks for showing it.
Nico.

I used PSE, circular crop around each image and paste into a new layer for each one in the montage. You can then move each one around in its layer til you are happy with the final result.
I am having lots of trouble saving it at a size I can post. The full size is 37Mb:eyepop:. Currently have it down to 310Kb looking resonable, only 100Kb to go:lol:

I was trying to show it as I saw it, but I agree looking bottom right to top left isn't natural for an image. Maybe if I had some background it would look better.
 cool thanks Michael that sounds easy i think i can do that ;)

Ok, here is the latest version. Rotated the last 5 and saved it a bit bigger than last time.
Now, how do I get rid of the not so black halo around each one:question:
Thats cool :thumbsup: i cant wait to try that ;)
yeah how do you get rid of the halo :screwy:
