Last Saturday when Mr Moon decided to show his ugly face I thought I'd try to beat the little bugger by going to 2400mm FL.
Had a play with a few objects, mostly just 15-20 minutes worth with moderate success then turned the scope on M27 for the final run.

So here it is, 2hr & 15min worth of 27x5min subs @ ISO400, darks, no flats(finally got my EL panel so that will change), approx 25% crop with the usual lazy processing in PS.
Was hoping to get some more, much needed hours the next couple of nights before the Moon became too dominant but our unseasonal clouds have returned to stuff things up again.

I think it has potential with more hours thrown at it, might get some nice detail coming through but thought I'd share it anyway.
What amazes me most about the image is that my stars are actually round, :eyepop: (well, roundish) at 1200mm is amazing enough but 2400mm...WOW!!

Hope you likey
Justin.

Justin,

Holy moly -- that is really quite impressive. See if you can add a few more hours to it.

I also like the -O- (Saturn) in the top right. :D

Just checked out the "Saturn" star in the Digital Sky Survey data, :eyepop: seems it has even greater symmetry, not only arms but legs & a head too...

IT'S A STARMAN!!

Did a great job JD!
Even with the moon up this is really quite impressive and at these FL's.

Bit more data to smooth the noise and this will be top shelf.

Look forward to it!
