Bit early but just starting a thread to gather interest for July.
New moon is on Monday 12th, so how is Saturday the 10th for everyone?
Now, for all those people who have been in the closet for a bit, dust off the scope find your warm gear and drag yourselves along.
The more the merrier so they say.:D We don't want excuses now do we?:P
Cheers Rickapoody:thumbsup:

Thanks for the offer Allan. I guess if it is cold enough....!

This Sydney weather is definitely a bit of a reality check though.
Having my doubts on how much I want to suffer for my hobby.

I plan to get there just before sunset again if someone has a key to get in.

Hope to see all the regulars there again, as well as some new people. :D

The LX "coffee grinder " will make a visit too, so we can have some familiar noises during the night.:)

Another nice night, but sky could have cooperated a bit better, but still managed to see some of the favourites when conditions allowed.
Good to catch up again Michael and Carly. That scope will be really crankin' on a good night.
Thanks to all for the shared munchies and drinks and the good company as usual and where were those tim tams.
Cheers till next one.:)

Don't suppose anyone (plus Keyholder) is interested in doing a Pony Club
mid week?
Weather seems to be improving from Wednesday.
Saturday is looking good but the moon will not set till about 11:30 pm.

Greg.

Allan_L
14-07-2010, 04:09 PM
What day/night were you thinking of Greg?

I could do Thursday ?
But I have to work on Friday so a late one is out for me.
However, I could leave you to lock the gate, if it came to that.

Yes. Saturday will be moonish, but only Crescent.
We have agreed that Lunar Observations for the early night may be the order of sequence. But that is OK with most.

14-07-2010, 06:43 PM
Hi Allan.

If you guys are definitely going Saturday I might wait till then.
A bit of moon gazing sounds good.
Weather looks ok as well.

Rick, viewing wise you did not miss much although early on the moon was excellent. Between midnight and 2 with the moon gone it was pretty good but then the dew came down with a vengeance and sent us all home with water running off our gear.
Still, a very pleasant night.

It wasa bit strange wondering around under the light of a silvery (albeit crescent) moon.

The rest of the crew paid me out for turning on the red club light two hours before moon set, but hey! its all partof the atmoshere, ... for a while there it was darker in the clubhouse than out on the observing field.

But a good time is always guaranteed when the company is this good.

I enjoyed looking through your DOB Michael.

Thanks Joe for sharing some of your Green Label birthday present. Mmmm!

Good to catch up again.
But these Doublers take a toll on us oldtimers.

Look forward to next month before heading South for September.
Anyone else heading South ?
