I was able to take the new (for me) camera out last night and grab some frames.
Guided QHY5, 100mm Maksutov
Vixen 102M, NEQ6 Pro
Canon 450D, modded Baader UV/IR
10 x 240sec, iso 400
DSS, played with it in PS CS2 (still don't really know what I'm doing:))

nice tony - with the 450 you should be able to frame a bit better, other than that congrats on firstlight ;)

Thanks Dave, by that you mean set the camera 90 deg rotated?

Thanks for the advice regarding the camera, it really helped me decide which way to go.

I should have had another go at eta Car to compare it with the 400D, but by the time I got started imaging it was too late.

That's quite nice Tony, only it is M8 not M20 ;)

I like the blue stars

Aaggghhh!

Of course it is... Hmmmm how can I get the thread name changed?

The blue stars are a result of optics not up to scratch... one day... :prey:

f10 is bordering on long, When I get out the 8" LX90... That's a long FL!

Been imaging a while, but until I got the autoguider working, 30 secs have been the limit.

Can't wait for the darker skies at the Astrofest!

Thanks Trevor, I'm happy with the result of my first real long exposure.
