Hey there Ice in Spacers,
Got back from my UK and Ireland holiday a week ago now. We had a great time, but the stars were all different..LOL
Just ordered my LX200 10" today, I might even get it before Christmas, but I am not too worried when it gets here.
A new shipment of them gets in to Sydney tomorrow.
I have ordered a few extra Tele vue EP's and a barlow, plus a UHC filter.

I would have loved to come to the Star Party in the Hunter valley in late January, but got back from the UK too late to register.

Take care.

Mike

Welcome back Mike. You can certainly still book for the camp here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/?iisac

Both Striker and I are going down. I'd be great to have more Qlders going down.

Wow, what a welcome back.
Thanks.
It was very cold over there, from minus 4 to plus 6C, but the Motorhome kept us warm at nights, it had central heating.
Most of the time it was beautiful, with clear skies and wind, but bearable.
We visited "Cove", where the Titanic sailed from, and did a tour of the town, with a Local historian (Michael Martin) as our guide. It was brilliant, we have a DVD of the tour for those interested.
We have hundreds of photos, anyone interested can have them.
But this should probably go onto another thread.
Most nights were clear and I didn't have any optics with me, but I found Orion and Mars easily, the Big Dipper was easy to find also, for those of you who have seen it.
I missed the Southern Skies though, I was lost up there.

Great choice Mike! (and welcome back!) Keep us posted on your early experiments.
Don at Bintel will sort you out if you have any teething problems. He has been tremendously helpful to me since I bought my scope from Bintel in Feb.

Yes Ken,
I have ordered the GPS model. What else would I do?
I have also ordered a 2x televue Barlow, a Televue 11mm plossel, for planetary work, a Televue 32mm plossel and an Astronomik UHC filter.
Thanks to Don from Bintel.
He offered me much more, but told me to keep it to the basics until have learned more, so I will. Thanks Don

Before I try and register for the star party, I will have to talk to my friend Erik.
We would travel down together, I know he is interested in going, but we are on opposite shifts and would have to work it out with our employer first.

Never been to England. They were always on telly here when I was a kid. Hated Coronation Street but liked 'Z' Cars!

Mike you could have bought mine, I am selling mine only a year old with wedge, JMI scope case, dew shield, dew heater, off axis guider, 3D weight set and many more items for $6000.00. Pity you did not look in the Buy sell forum.

Congrats on buying your scope though. They are very good.

Striker,

The C14 is not for sale. It is fixed in the SETI observatory.
If you are desperate, I could sell you the 4.5" Tasco....Hahaha.
I did buy the LX200 so I could take it out places, in the long run it will be cheaper than the wife, won't argue with me, and will be much more fun.
Only joking.
I talked to Erik today, he is interested in going South this January. But he is checking on his finances first. He just bought his first house.
If we go we will hire a campervan for the weekend. Do I need to put red headlight bulbs in it?

Paul,

I'm sorry I didn't look in the buy and sell, but who sells a magnificent telescope like that?

Houghy,
I might need you to show me how to drive the scope, I will still have my L plates at the end of Jan.
When will I find time to sleep?

Hopefully the scope will arrive over Christmas as we are having some clear nights up here for a change.

Mike they are great scopes, but lack just a little for my planetary imaging needs. Oh well, if you hear of anyone who wants to buy an LX200 you know who to suggest.

Mike both Paul(1ponders) and myself have had a LX200 so we can easily set you up....hope you and your mate can come..tell him to forget about the house...he has 30 years to pay it off...lol..

Thanks Tony.
:prey2: you are much closer than Houghy anyway.
I just had an email from Don at Bintel, they are shipping the scope tomorrow arvo, and it will get here on Friday. :prey:
I can't wait, I suppose the rest of the week will drag now, and of course it is bound to be cloudy on Friday.
Time for a celebration, :drink: :drink: :drink:

I will be going to the star party, I am sure Erik will as well
I will do the application shortly.

A very happy
Mike
