from the same company..features will be close, the LX are the bigger aperture from 8"-12", the ETX LS is a 6" - more portable but less light gathering. depends what size you want & how far you have to drag it around..Me i would go for the 6" LS, i would use it much more than the bigger brothers..many here though would opt for the 8"or10"

Meade LS-8 is now available as shown inside cover of latest AS&T.
I am thinking of getting the LS-8, so I can entice my friends into this hobby also.
What do u guys think of NexStar 8 SE?? Compaired to the etc??
From a marketing point of view the Meade LS series is targeted to new people entering the hobby, while the LX200 series is targeted to the more serious amatuer. The LS is single arm and in 6-8" size OTA's, the LX200 is heavy duty dual fork arms with 8"-16" OTA's.

I agree with Kal - the fork mount type of the LX series is superior to a single arm operation of the LS.
I foy uare thinking of celestron i have not been impressed with there nexstar series - the c6 SGT sereies is on a normal EQ mount rather than the single arm unit (of the SE/nexstar)
