Hi
I have just bought a Meade LPI and installed the latest version of Autostar Suite to my new laptop which is running Windows 7 Pro 64bit. My laptop says it can not find a driver. I have search everywhere and cannot find a driver to download.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks for that Phil, but my computer can't even find the driver to load.
It did this with the original software that came with the LPI and the Autostar Suite 5.5 that I downloaded from Meade's site.
I will do some hunting in Regedit and see if I can find anything.
Cheers

I believe that there is no support for the LPI in Windows 7. Check/join/ask on Autostarsuite.net.

LPI works fine in windows 7 *if* it's 32 bit, because it uses the standard WDM type drivers (I know this because my LPI works fine on my windows 7 32 bit).
Your only salvation will be to try 'xpmode' which you can download from the microsoft website, which is a function only available to windows 7 that runs a fully working SP3 XP in a virtual window in windows 7.
This problem has been discussed in many forms before on the forums with USB devices not working in 64 bit windows 7 systems. XP mode is the only way to fix this until the manufacturers are allowed or pull their thumb out and write some new drivers.

If its of any relavance,my LPI wouldn't work in Vista either till I found a blog on line about how to change the register names of the camera in the Devices/Drivers. This worked. I don't know if this is the same issue with Windows 7 and LPI's
If you are interested, when I get home I can dig them out for you

This works for Win7 32bit as the driver you are talking about is a 32bit driver but unfortunately there is no 64bit driver that will run the LPI:mad2:

It may but I think that you will have serious issues with speed of picture transfer and resource usage XP mode is good but I am not sure how well it will work with resource hungry hardware especially when it comes to graphics as the Virtual Machine has a very basic graphics driver

Yes! See this article for more info

In regards to graphics and USB capability in a Virtual Machine, you can't go past VMware Workstation, far superior to what MS bundles with Win7.:P:rofl:

G'Day Guys,
On a slightly different issue. Where do I find LPI drivers for Windows 7?
I've searched the web but I can't find anything, not that I'm an expert in searching.:D
