Here's two hyperstar shots (http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/M17_M16_HS3_ha_sf.jpg) I stitched together. Taken from my backyard some months ago. Hopefully the weather gives us a couple of clear nights this long week-end so I can do some RGB from ilford, probably on the prawn . Fingers crossed. :)

Very very nice Marc. Got to love these widefield images with a bit of resolution to them.

Really nice shot Marc, plenty of nebulosity showing there.
What does it look like up close..?
I like long rectangular images actually :confuse3:

Nice combine and looks like a good project. I am looking forward to the colour version. I am assuming this is headed in that direction???

Looks great so far but think the composition needs breathing space above and below. As much as I like wide screen (2.35:1) this looks too wide. 4 more panels?

Marc,
Is it just me or the swan a different tone to the eagle? One's slightly blue and one's slightly yellow. To my eyes, anyway.
Agree with Craig, whilst the field is spectacular, it needs to be composed a little better. But, then again, this is just the start of your multimarcmosaic. Looking forward to the finished product -- if this is anything to go by, it'll be astounding.

Thanks Greg. Downscaling highres images always look the part. so it's easier.
Thanks Mike. I used the new process (http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/tut_01/) technique I'm playing with to squeeze the nebs out.
not good
I had to get the biggest overlap possible that's why it's so thin. See originals here (http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pH3dEjRwGQIAfX5rQHJCX-CMvdxW929mytPkVCFMErSRvbfqUP7lYRV1s X2a0re8ufvFgTSSykWkFmoHvhdZLQg/M17_HS3_ha_f.jpg?psid=1)and here (http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1p-BkFdXpTLc5es7cHxlpZf-kTZVH_nNq_XDEej0F-65EMTk6C5bJt5COWIepnd-ZeH804WKV6lZIhsyQCzGkBgQ/M16_HS3_ha_f.jpg?psid=1).
Thanks Paul. Ermm... not really. Maybe later on. Got too much new stuff to play with. Getting an AO soon so I think I'll be doing a lot of prime focus for a while trying to figure out bits n' pieces.
Thanks Craig. Yes it wasn't a planned mosaic. I had two individual shots (see originals here (http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pH3dEjRwGQIAfX5rQHJCX-CMvdxW929mytPkVCFMErSRvbfqUP7lYRV1s X2a0re8ufvFgTSSykWkFmoHvhdZLQg/M17_HS3_ha_f.jpg?psid=1)and here (http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1p-BkFdXpTLc5es7cHxlpZf-kTZVH_nNq_XDEej0F-65EMTk6C5bJt5COWIepnd-ZeH804WKV6lZIhsyQCzGkBgQ/M16_HS3_ha_f.jpg?psid=1)) then I saw one of bert's mosaic of the same area and realised I could stitch them... somehow :P
Thanks H. Yep - you're absolutely right. Levels and dynamic range are not the same and Eagle side is less contrasty than the Swan as a result. Also those shots weren't calibrated because at the time I hadn't figured out flat fielding with the hyperstar, so had to deal with gradients in the originals. Now I have everything sorted out I should be able to do proper mosaic. No more excuses. ;)

Thanks Allan. You're too kind. I'm off to Ilford now. Trying to squeeze in two clear nights (today and saturday) hopefully to do some RGB otherwise I'm gonna start scarring people's retina with all those black and white shots ;)

Marc great image puts them in perspective although I too must agree that the image needs breathing space on all sides to frames it better
attached is a colour version I found on the net although the other way around and as can be seen in this shot seems tight on the left and right sides IMO
Personally not fussed about colour as I like these Ha images as is

Thanks for the link Trev. :thumbsup:Will definitely revisit the area and do 9 panels starting from the mid-point in between the two. That should cover the whole area with a bit to spare by the look of that shot.
