Swan & Eagle in hydrogen alpha

Here's two hyperstar shots (http://www.multiweb.com.au/astro/M17_M16_HS3_ha_sf.jpg) I stitched together. Taken from my backyard some months ago. Hopefully the weather gives us a couple of clear nights this long week-end so I can do some RGB from ilford, probably on the prawn . Fingers crossed. :)

Looks great so far but think the composition needs breathing space above and below. As much as I like wide screen (2.35:1) this looks too wide. 4 more panels?

Is it just me or the swan a different tone to the eagle? One's slightly blue and one's slightly yellow. To my eyes, anyway.

Agree with Craig, whilst the field is spectacular, it needs to be composed a little better. But, then again, this is just the start of your multimarcmosaic. Looking forward to the finished product -- if this is anything to go by, it'll be astounding.

Thanks H. :thumbsup: Yep - you're absolutely right. Levels and dynamic range are not the same and Eagle side is less contrasty than the Swan as a result. Also those shots weren't calibrated because at the time I hadn't figured out flat fielding with the hyperstar, so had to deal with gradients in the originals. Now I have everything sorted out I should be able to do proper mosaic. No more excuses. ;)

Marc great image puts them in perspective although I too must agree that the image needs breathing space on all sides to frames it better

attached is a colour version I found on the net although the other way around and as can be seen in this shot seems tight on the left and right sides IMO

Personally not fussed about colour as I like these Ha images as is
