SOLD - This is my first real setup I used for planetary imaging, and it worked well for me. I've now built an obs and have a bigger imaging setup, so this one has been quietly gathering dust for the past 12 months. Better to pass it to some aspiring imager to acquire their skills with a good piece of low cost equipment.
The Skywatcher EQ5 mount, 11Kg capacity, with Synscan goto and full ST4 guiding capability, was bought new from Sirius Optics about 18 months ago. The Newtonian scope shown in the photos is a highly-modified Seben 114mm, with replacement Japanese Tasco mirror, shortened tube and no internal focuser barlow, so that it is more suitable for DSLR imaging. It works just fine, and I barlow-laser collimated it this morning to check. Even the Rack and Pinion focuser is OK, I added some teflon strips to the drawtube to firm up the movement.
I'm basically throwing in the scope for free, on a WYSIWYG basis, as it's cosmetically challenged but works well, so that whoever buys this, probably someone starting out, will have a complete and good-quality working starter system. Use an EP for viewing, or a camera and away you go taking good planetary pics.
Grow from there with further investment when you're ready; Add guiding and a nice 80mm Refractor and you can do some effective DSO work as well. As this is Synscan controlled, you can also add PC control any time via ASCOM and guiding via EQMOD, which supports the EQ5.
Even the tripod is good heavy duty quality, as the photos show.
Price is $495.... for a good working goto rig! Pick up preferred in Western Brisbane, or will drop within 1 hour radius. Shipping extra.
