Finally a clear night last night. It was VERY dewy though so used the electric blanket/dew heater on the 10 inch scope.

First object is the Antennae Galaxies
11x10 mins ISO 200. Larger version here (http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.com.au/Scott/antannae11.10minsISO200unfmod350d10 inch10deg_filtered.jpg)

2nd is the Triffid nebula
7x10 mins ISO 200. Larger version here (http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.com.au/Scott/triffid8x10minsiso200unfmod350d10in ch10degsmst_filtered.jpg)

Both images with Hutech modded 350D with clear glass over sensor, MPCC coma corrector. 10 inch f5.6 newtonian. No filters so as to allow infra red light through. I was curious to see what effect that would have on the Triffid neb, it seems to show a little of the faint dust in the background. Guiding isnt as good on the Triffid shot.

I found that guiding last night was horrendous I have eggy stars in my triffid shot and it looks out of focus even though the bahtnov mask was spot on. The seeing was soupy and all over the place, and your not that far from me. It would be interesting to see what Al thought as he was imaging as well. I think they are pretty good shots Scott.

I was fighting off the fog, but still no dew straps and heaters on the gear.

Thanks Dave.
Sometimes the guidestar would boil and jump around a bit, I think there must have been upper level winds, which have now come down to the surface, its howling outside now.

Both shots look pretty good to me! Captured lots of faint extensions in both - probably the Antennae is superior due to better guiding. I had reasonable seeing / guiding last night (Bowen Mt) - I was capturing M17 photons ...

In spite of your difficulties two nice shots there Scott. Great colour and depth in M20 too.

Cheers, Marcus
