I missed out on some observing last night because I doubted 7Timer and Shippy Skies. :mad2:
It's been raining here for weeks and the general prediction is that it will continue for days. However both predictions had a short period of clear skies over the Southern Highlands last night. The cloud off the coast would be heavy all day and night but both agreed that on land it would clear just after dark but the clouds would return around midnight. So I could get my monthly fix of observing --- IF the clearing really happened and IF it happened at the right time. I was dubious. When it came time to make the decision it was raining and a friend further inland said it was 100% cloud and he had given up. So I stayed home.
You know what happened, don't you? Yep, clear by 6.30 and still clear when I went to bed at 11. So that is a  for the predictions. I say I'll always be the optimist and that I'd sooner be disappointed sometimes than miss out at anytime, but this was a time I didn't take my own advice.
