Is there any amateur astronomy observatories for tourists in the Netherlands, Belguim, France, Egypt, Turkey and Dubai? We will be traveling through these countries from 9 July to 18 August 2010. I have googled the net and searched Ice In Space forums, Lonely Planet and followed a link to some European organisations but no luck so far. What experiences have other travellers had ?

Here's some stuff on Turkey...
Turkish Astronomy Links (http://www.astroalcove.org/tkeyastro.html)
Not much in Egypt, or Dubai, but the others...just google "amateur astronomical observatories in.....". There's heaps of info. Maybe not specifically for tourists but many of the observatories will be open to the public. I don't think you'll find too many sites dedicated to astronomical tourists....it's not that big a market and most of the tourist mobs would be oblivious to them, anyway.
You could do some serious shopping at the Galileo store in Belguim: http://www.galileo.cc/english/index.php
