Hello all...
Inspired by the mighty jase's "Hibuscus' masterwork I thought I would try the lazy man's version with a 70mm FL.
Canon 40D (modded)
Canon 70-200mm f4L @ f4, iso400
150mins RGB
180mins Ha (12nm Ha filter)
Used separate darks over ICNR with this one.
Processing: ImagesPlus, PS4
Ha blending looks a bit rough on the stars in the heart of the nebula perhaps!?

Doug
The hi res version is very nice indeed. I like widefield views like this. Puts a different perspective on some old faves

Nice one Dougie I love this region so much going on
Nothing lazy about 5.5 hrs Doug! Good work mate. 70mm would capture some extreme fields. You should give a mosaic a shot some time. Looking forward to seeing more.

Doug,
Colours aside (I understand that blending hydrogen alpha data with colour data is a difficult process), this is a beautiful image.
I just love IC 2602 hanging off to the right there. Magic.
I'm so happy to read you're undertaking multi-hour projects now. And, using separate darks, too. How're your flat fields? ; )

Cheers - I too am a fan of the 30,000ft perspective.
Thanks Trevor
I have no excuse jase - might have to try some mosaic work with my 300mm f4L soon.
Cheers H - Re flats...I'm using a library set of Flats I did about a year ago!!! I know, I know!!!:lol::rolleyes:
They still seem to work - but I'm sure that ancient dust in those images has moved on by now!!! Something else for the to-do list.
Anyways, here's the ubiquitous repro with those blue stars tamed a bit...

That looks markedly better, Doug.
However, you've now added a slight green cast to the background.
Try selecting just the background sky and fixing the channels for it separately.

Good one Doug. Been meaning to have a go at this with the 7D but can't seem to come at chilly temperatures. Craig
