can anyone recommend a decent one that isn't gonna cost almost as much as the scope ???

I see them in Bintel for like $180 seems like hell of a lot of dough

the reject shop sells a hydrolic bar stool for about $50.00 with back and arm rests.it is easy to raise and lower when sitting at the scope and they are light to lift.and moove around...they can also be left out overnight, i have several at different locations ...easy to use in the dark

I am biased...I used to import and sell them.

To me, a good adjustable height chair is worth its weight in gold.

I am a "hefty" fellow and so a lot of the normal alternate suggestions won't hold me (at least so that I feel comfortable about it).

I would not hesitate to recommend the chairs (Stellar Seats) at Bintel...

For me they have had nearly the same impact as added aperture to my scopes in that when comfortably and safely seated I view longer and pick out more detail. Rock solid and built like a tank can't fault them.

Yes, they cost a few bucks but in my opinion are worth it.

I know what you mean, and though those Bintel Stellar chairs look great, they are too pricey for a chair. If you are handy, making one works out cheaper. I ended up buying a gaslift stoll, which is comfy and Ok. Have only been using it the last few weeks, so will see how it goes. It may be similiar to the one at Reject Shop, I think I paid about $40.

Officeworks have gas lift stools about $39 from memory. I have one and works fine (took the wheels of it).

No backrest though, i also use a foldup camping chair with my ST refractor, $10, that works and is comfortable.
