I had a wonderful time but the weather was in some ways unkind. On Doubtful & Milford Sounds, I longed for nice moody clouds and got bright sun.

For my coastal jaunts, I hoped for sun and got rain and mist! I never did get to Ohau Falls, it was pouring rain.

At Kinloch, it was beautiful but the snow started as I left.

Anyway, here are a few and I will put some more up in the coming days as I sort and edit. There are more on my Zenfolio and Flickr. (Sorry, I have no idea why these are not showing up, I used the square bracket IMG code linking.)

Moeraki boulders long shot - this was the sort of weather I had! Next time I go I plan an overnight stop here so I can try for dusk and dawn, the boulders are really fantastic and prehistoric looking. If you go there, don't be conned into paying the gift shop's $2 'donation' to use their boardwalk, drive 300m south and there is a public (free) carpark and the walk along the beach is interesting anyway, lost of strange things washed up.

Lovely photos Odille. I particularly like the Mount Cook shot, framed between the two ridges! Those boulders are amazing!

Cheers

Sublime!
Could I ask a favour of getting the coordinates (google maps) and looking direction (S, N, W, E) of these two locations:

I am planning a trip to NZ and am making a list of photographic locations.
Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

The Mount Cook one is from the Westland National Park. That is facing just about due north therefore exposing the south face of Mount Cook.

Well done, Odille. Glad you made it over there! Some nice images to boot, too. I really like the Mount Cook image. It's just such a wonderful place. :sigh:

Alex, here is Lake Clearwater on Google maps. http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=-43.608737,171.070862&spn=0.213538,0.592575&t=h&z=12
You take the road from Mt Somers, it is gravel and really awful the big rocks kept striking up under the car and it is very slidey. This spot is just before you get to the little camp where people have weeknd 'bachs'.

And this is the Hooker Valley one, drive right to the end and park in the DOCs campground area and then walk back a bit and you can get this viewpoint. http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=-43.727196,170.100374&spn=0.02664,0.074072&t=h&z=15
