Jupiter 3 June 2010 1945 UT

Yep 30 minutes short of the most recent impact. In fact I had just finished and was packing up when the impact was occuring. Missed it. The seeing was pretty average last night and it only got worse as the morning approached. Could have should have would have. Here is the image.

An excellent image Paul. And still significant as a record of Jupiter 30 min prior to the latest impact.

Nice image there Paul, maybe you should have driven up to the Hill.

Packing up 30 minutes early is just one of those thing, I was imaging about 15ft away from Bird and have images from a few minutes before and after.

Greg this is with the Skynyx 2-0. In fact all my planetary images from 2007 onwards are taken with the skynyx 2-0.

Very nice image Paul - images like this are very valuable as a comparison to see if there's any visible sign after the meteor. So far no-one has seen any sign of debris, hst is having a look in a few hours so if anything is going to see it I guess that will.

Thanks Anthony. It's funny how things happen. I was thinking I should wait until the light of the morning came but I was tired. I am glad to have an image all the same though. I hope that you guys or someone can use my image for comparison.

Paul, my wife Gail and I would be thrilled to get an image of this quality. We will have to wait a bit though as Jupiter is only up about 30 degrees before twilight. Naturally I have a better excuse than you for missing the impact.. I'm on the wrong side of the Earth!!!
