After undertaking much investigation into buying 100mm binoculars, and what is involved in freighting then into Australia from the US, I have put together a webpage on Big binoculars for Australian buyers.
It provides some information about 100mm binoculars, what is available for under $1000 (Australian) and information for those wishing to purchase 100mm binos from companies in the US (Customs, Duty, Taxes etc. etc.)

I welcome comments and any additions.

That's a great site, thanks for the link!
When I was hunting around for binoculars I was looking at the celestron 15x70's, but in Australia they were all quite expensive, like > $300, but they were much cheaper in the US..
I didn't end up buying them from the US because I was worried about what taxes and import duties I'd have to pay etc.
I ended up getting some 11x70 Saxon's from a shop in Melbourne, freighted to me for $220 total. They're not the best and greatest binoculars, but they served me well for 6-7 months until I got my telescope.
I've only got a fairly cheapo camera tripod too, I don't know that it would withstand a big set of 22x100's or similar.. already it doesn't handle my 11x70's well when pointed at a high angle.. the head slips out of position even when locked :/

I bought my 20 x 80 Oberwerks (LW) from BigBinoculars in the US.
freight cost me $50 US and there was no customs duty to pay.
The service from the company was impeccable and Australia Post delivered the binos to my door.
I am very happy with these

Hi Seeker372011
There is a review of the Apogees 25 x 100 Binos at:
http://www.cloudynights.com/breviews/apogee100.htm
Also at:
http://www.excelsis.com/1.0/section.php?sectionid=21
I have not seen any for the 20x100.
Hi Rumples riot,
The Adelaide company supply 25x100 from Kunming optical, China. These appear to be identical to the Oberwerk brand (Also supplied by Kunming).
$700 in not a lot for 100mm Binos, a good pair of APO binos this size would cost around $4000+.
Regards
Paul.
